TIC News:
A reminder you can hear a few of our thoughts on TikTok now too.
Testing the relative age effect at the top of the FTSE 100 and Fortune 100 In youth sport, in primary school, and in elite hockey academies, the relative age effect is real and often striking — children born just after a school-year cutoff are bigger, older, and more confident than their classmates, and that small advantage compounds. Books like Outliers have made the idea famous. The natural next question: does that compounding advantage stretch all the way to the corner office?
The intelligence isn’t the point. The decision is.
Ask most talent intelligence practitioners what good looks like, and they’ll describe an output: a beautifully structured labour market briefing, a competitive hiring dashboard, a skills gap analysis with clean visualisations. They’ll talk about methodology rigour, source triangulation, confidence intervals. What they rarely describe is a decision that got made differently because of what they produced.
News:
Global Disruptions Intensify Pressures on Healthcare The US Healthcare system depends heavily on imported goods and foreign-born workers. But trade wars, aging global populations, and slowing international migration now threaten to make health-related goods and services harder to provide.
IBA (International Bar Association) global employment report highlights AI, skills shortages and employee wellbeing as defining workplace challenges. The International Bar Association (IBA) Global Employment Institute (GEI) has published its 14th Annual Global Report, identifying the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalisation, persistent skills shortages and employee wellbeing as the key issues shaping employment law and human resources (HR) practice worldwide.
The Services Budget Is AI’s Biggest Prize Enterprise software budgets are large. Enterprise services budgets are larger. A company might spend $10,000 licensing accounting software and 10 times that on the firm that closes the books. For most of the last decade, artificial intelligence companies were building for the software seat. The larger bet is the services contract.
AI skills shortage doubles hiring times in financial services Some 61 per cent of UK financial services organisations surveyed by Amazon Web Services cite AI and digital skills shortages as the biggest barrier to expanding their use of AI, with the average time taken to fill a role rising from 5.5 months last year to nine months in 2026.
U.S. companies have an AI problem. Indian IT wants to be the solution India’s IT giants seek to shift from back-office tech automation to AI orchestration, challenging consulting giants like Accenture, Deloitte, and McKinsey. A 2025 MIT Media Lab report found 95% of AI pilots fail due to flawed integration, and a massive gap between tech and organizational readiness. Indian IT firms hope to leverage their deep knowledge of legacy systems to bridge the deployment gap.
Nine in ten companies still waiting for AI to pay off, warns Accenture chief Matt Prebble, chief executive of Accenture UK and Ireland, said the disconnect between enthusiastic adoption and measurable returns now ranks as one of the most pressing strategic questions facing boardrooms on both sides of the Atlantic. “Over the last two years, we’ve seen three times as many people using AI within the workplace, but that individual productivity … that’s not actually yet translating to real company performance,”
Jobs
A highlight of some of the roles we’ve seen in the market. Overall the market feels busier than we’ve seen in previous months especially in the USA and when you look at the broader WFP and PA landscape.
